When can you use sunscreen after IPL?

Your clinic always decides the exact timing, but skin is often reddish and warm for the first few days after IPL. Until your clinic gives the go-ahead, shade and covering up are what protect you. After that, daily, lightweight sunscreen becomes one of the most important habits for protecting your results and helping guard against pigment returning sooner.

What makes Skinvisibles® different?

Swiss UV specialists. That's the whole company.

Skinvisibles is a privately held Swiss company based in Zurich, built by a team who have spent their working lives in UV protection and skincare. We are not a skincare line that adds sunscreen – sun protection is all we make.

The mission we set for ourselves is deliberately narrow: invisible UV protection for visible results. Visible results mean healthy, radiant, hydrated skin – which does two things at once, high protection and true hydration. Each formula is designed to do both.

There's a reason SENSE appears in every product name. Daily SPF is all about how it feels: ultra-light, fast-absorbing, absolutely no stickiness. A sunscreen you don't like to wear is one you skip, and one you skip protects nothing.

Our formulas are made in Switzerland, Japan and the EU with independent specialist laboratories, and are sold through beauty institutes and skin clinics that can explain them properly. In Norway it is Cosmenor.

Why pigment needs extra protection

New pigment forms quickly in sunlight

IPL works by having pigment in the skin absorb light energy and break down. Right after treatment, skin is in a phase where new, unwanted pigment forms more easily if exposed to UV radiation. A broad-spectrum filter reduces this risk by stopping the radiation before it reaches the pigment cells. This vulnerability is greatest in the first few weeks, and fades as the pigment broken down by treatment naturally flakes away from the skin. IPL is often carried out as a series of sessions spaced a few weeks apart, and unprotected skin between sessions can mean your clinic needs more treatments than planned to reach the desired result.

Why Daily SPF Is the Smartest Skincare Option

Up to 80% of visible skin aging comes from UV exposure – and it happens even on cloudy Norwegian days.

Questions about sunscreen after IPL

How long should I wait before using sunscreen after IPL?

+

Most clinics recommend waiting until redness has settled, often a couple of days, but your clinic sets the exact timeframe for your treatment.

Why is sun protection especially important after IPL?

+

IPL targets pigment in the skin, and new pigment can form faster if skin is exposed to sun right after treatment. Daily sunscreen helps preserve your results.

Which sunscreen suits skin best after IPL?

+

A light, non-comedogenic SPF 50 with ingredients that support an even skin tone. Even Sense is built for exactly this.

Can I use tinted sunscreen after IPL?

+

Yes, once your clinic has cleared you for skincare products again. Choose a light, non-comedogenic formula.

How long should I protect my skin extra carefully after IPL?

+

Clinics often recommend reinforced sun protection for several weeks, since pigment is especially sensitive to sunlight during this period.
